Heatwaves by tbhyourelame on ao3

Heatwaves is a Georgenotfound and Dream slash fic with fluff, angst, and slow burn romance inspired by the song heat waves by glass animals.

This fic is one of the more popular and notorious fanfics in the fandom, as even the creators the fic is based on know of it and reference it frequently as well as glass animals making a few references here and there on Twitter. In its hayday, Heatwaves would crash ao3 when it updated due to the sheer volume of traffic sent to once place.

Because of this fic, heat waves is considered a fandom song, even if it hasn't been written with the fandom in mind.

I haven't personally read this fic, so I can't give too much of a synopsis.

Passerine by thcscus on ao3

Passerine is an SBI fic (TommyInnit, Technoblade, Philza, and Wilbur Soot) set in an royalty AU. I do believe that this fic is also loosely inspiredy by the song Passerine by The Oh Hellos.

This story is a heartwrenching tale of two immortals, Phil and Techno, who eventually split off from each other. Techno misses Phil and finds out that Phil has settled down as ruler of a kingdom for the last several hundred years. Currently, he is married with children, an unusual choice for someone who is immortal. When Techno visits Phil, Phil begs for his forgiveness and for Techno to stay, welcoming him back into his life with open arms. But of course, family members cannot live forever, no matter how much we love them. And so, life changes just as quckly as the flap of a bird's wings.

This work has inspired other big-name creators in the fandom to make their own work based off it (warning for spoilers)

Flowers From 1970 by astr0nomika on Wattpad

This fanfic is regarded as one of the most popular DreamSMP/DreamSMP-creator fics from Wattpad, so much so, that the origianl story has since been deleted as it's being turned into a physical book through a publisher. As of now, the author has mentioned on Twitter that Wattpad has potentially signed the rights to a streaming platform, so we may see this story develop on screen as well, much like the Harry Styles-focused fanfic deveolped into the movie After.

Flowers From 1970 is a Georgenotfound and Dream slash fic where a single supernatural telephone in a house connects two boys separated in time. Dream lives in 1970 and George lives in 2020. Through the telephone, they can talk to each other and eventually fall in love with each other. It's another heartwrenching romance that is a very good read.

bones in the ocean by bunfloras on ao3

This is a fic starring emerald duo, Philza and Technoblade, in a pirate AU. Despite being enemies on the sea, both Techno and Philza grow closer to eventually call each other good friends. This story contains a lot of angst but also has a happy ending.

tommyinnit's clinic for supervillains on ao3

This is a fanfic that stars SBI again, but also includes other members from the Dream SMP, in a superhero AU. Tommy is a doctor who, through sheer dumb luck, manages to save the supervillain of L'manberg. Now, he runs a clinic treating all the supervillains while learning a few things about family along the way. Very good hurt/comfort fic.

cheater cheater by MangobaII on Twitter

This is another Dream and Georgenotfound slash fanfic written from a social media AU. All of the story is written as edited social media posts, texts, and discord messages. While centering around Dream and George, this work also contains other members of the Dream SMP and even a few creators outside of it. This is a very satirical and comedic fic with funny one-liners and images. Could not recommend this one enough if you want a good laugh.

Human Error by teeth_eater on ao3

This is a multi-fic series which stars the SBI creators (Tommy, Philza, Wilbur, and Techno) plus Tubbo, Ranboo, and many other Dream SMP creators in a humans are space orcs AU. I love love love this prompt and teeth_eater did wonderfully in my opinion.

The premise is that Tommy was taken from Earth by a team of bounty hunters. After he crashes their ship, he manages to sneak aboard a Millenium Falcon-type ship ran by Captain Philza. The only problem is, all of civilization in space has been taught that any interactions with humans is bad and horrible, and will most likely result in your death. Humans can survive impossible situations, especially if there are other humans around. Interacting with them is punishable by death, if the humans don't get to you first.

When Philza's crew start to notice weird things happening on the ship, will they turn Tommy over to the authorities? Learn how to communicate with him? Or will Tommy's humanity cause death and destruction that his crew has never heard of before? Or better yet, is being the only human in space a blessing or a curse for Tommy?

This story leans very heavily on found family, even when everyone around you knows you're different, and despite those differences, can learn to accept you for who you are.

This is a multi-fic series which stars SBI creators Tommy, Philza, Wilbur, and Techno, plus Dream and Ranboo in a sort of what if scenario on the Dream SMP. What if the egg didn't infect Badboyhalo and Antfrost? What if the egg was working with Dream? What if the egg was Dream?

Dream is the egg, a supernatural being that can go anywhere, see anything, and knows it wants control over everyone and everything. After Techno falls to the egg, the egg's goal changes. It needs more power. It converts Techno's family under the control of the egg, but over time, the egg's goal changes again.

Surprisingly, this story is about learning how to love, even when you've hurt others in the past.

Between Dreams and Memories by Salty_Sam on ao3

This is a rewrite of the first season of the DreamSMP (from the creation of the server to the Manburg-Pogtopia War) with a more interwoven canon and more fleshed-out backstories for the characters. Salty_Sam has incorporated other SMPs and other content creators into this story to help add to the dimensionality. Some of it is original, some of it is one-off things from the content creators, and some of it is retelling of the DreamSMP's story in fanfic form.

As someone who has tried to rewrite the DreamSMP's story into fanfic-form, I respect the immense effort and skill that went into writing this.
