Now that Wilbur has more free time since the release of "Your New Boyfriend," he's asked to come back onto the SMP and serve as a sort of head writer for everyone. However, with the conclusion of Season 2, most of the writing on the server becomes indivdual and more creators are getting recognized for the effort and stories that they are creating. Creators will write for their own character and ask other creators to collaborate with storylines when possible. However, the communication between creators was extremely poor and most creators could only feasibly work within the cliques that they formed with other creators.
At this point in the fandom, there is a sort of inside joke where the 16th of every month is cursed. The Manburg Festival, the Season 1 Finale, and Techno's Execution all took place on the 16th of their respective months.
Season Three has just as much if not more plotlines to follow, but they are paced well and definitely more spread out. They also connect more storywise, where one character's story will have relevancy to another's, but there are less set events and more of a sort of build up to significant plot points for the character. Most are dialogue between two to four characters. As a reminder, Season 1 took place in roughly five months, Season 2 in just two. Season 3 was spread out over ten months in 2021.
Season Three was the season that really hammered in the discussion between "lore" and "not canon" and the difference between "c" and "cc." Lore streams retain the connotation now that everything in the stream is preplanned, or even pre-recorded in some cases, and has a set script to follow. Semi-lore is more improvisational but there is still a clear goal to get done during stream or the creator technically is in character the whole stream but is doing something mundane/only wants to talk to their audience. Not canononical is reserved for a few streams where the creators just want to mess around without having serious implications to the quickly building and solidifying plot. Many creators and audience members dislike how quickly a set story rose into place because now the server no longer felt like a Minecraft server between friends. Now it felt like it had to live up to these insane expecations and creators were scared to build or destroy anything for fear of messing something up or deleting history.
"c" infront of a character/creator's name notates the character on the server, like cTommy or cEret, while "cc" before a name is specifically talking about the content creator, like ccTubbo or ccDream. This was suggested by Dream back during Tommy's exile where fans talking about the story could be interpreted as sounding like they were accusing the content creators of being abusive to each other. c and cc were supposed to act like tone indicators to show who someone was specifically talking about.
With the shift in how stories were now being told on the server, there are not as many nonsensical/improv streams as before. Near April 2021, there are many loose-lore streams where plot points happen, but there is still some room for improv'd jokes like at the beginning of Season 1. On the flip side of things, during this season, some content creators made incredibly cinematic lore streams for their audience to tell their character's stories. Quackity's Las Nevadas streams and Fundy's Dream Sequence fall into this category.
Due to the popularity of the SMP, (some) members are skyrocketed to celebrity status both inside and outside the Minecraft community. Writing for characters and acting out plot points become even more stressful now that there are more watchful and critical eyes on their streams.
As Covid protocols loosened throughout the season, most streamers took their newly-earned status and began to expand outside of Minecraft and even into new projects outside of streaming entirely.
Both the pressure and the expansion into different content caused the server to be pretty much dead with the occasional lore stream here and there. The only time that members would stream were either creators who still play on the server but who weren't blessed with the same attention and audience as other members or the members who did recieve that boost log on to say a few words here or there or to build a structure that might later become relevant.
