Wilbur's Leave

Content warning/Trigger warning: This page will talk about abuse and domestic violence. If that makes you uncomfortable, please head back.

A streamer/youtuber in the mcyt community, Shubble or Shelby, goes live wanting to talk about their last relationship that ended around the end of March 2023, and how difficult it was for her to understand that she was abused since what happened wasn't a texbook account of typical domestic abuse. She was abused on so many levels, physically, emotionally, and financially, and wanted to talk about her experiences to maybe help whoever else was in the same position she was and help them realize much sooner than she had. I will not talk more about it here, but if you want more details, you can find the vod online.

They remain broad in the sense that they don't mention by name who her ex was, but by anecdotal evidence, they leave in so much that it's not difficult to figure out it's Wilbur Soot.

In the hours after the stream, pretty much everyone showed their support and praised her courage to speak out. However, since she didn't mention him by name, some people refused to make the connection to Wilbur even though the evidence was glaring, stating that if Shubble didn't want to name him, they shouldn't put a name to the actions. They should be putting all efforts and vocalization into supporting Shubble (stop talking about the man, talk about the victim). However, since it's pretty obvious who she was talking about, some people said it was doing her a disservice by not talking about Wilbur, especially because she said that she knew he was going to hurt someone else again in the future.

Shubble's Vod gets taken down or deleted for unknown reasons. Over the next few days, both Shubble and their mod team make or like tweets saying that there are other reasons as to why Shubble couldn't say her ex's name, and this time, not wanting to out him was not one of them. Implying that she didn't say his name for legal reasons.

Shubble is a guest on LexieMariex's stream, talking about both of their experiences dating abusive men and dealing with the aftermath and rebuilding. Once again, neither of them mention their abusers' names, but they heavily imply that they're disappointed in their mutual streamer friend group who continue to platform and befriend them.

Wilbur posts an "apology" on twitter where he doesn't take ownership of anything, seems surprised that he was called abusive and understood that everything was consentual, and that he's since gone to therapy and has had a "significant lifestyle change" to become a better person. He does not take accountability at all for what he did, for the pain he caused, not acknowledging anything else other than the physical abuse and certainly not owning up to it. He also does not provide evidence to support his claims that he wasn't abusive.

He is flamed on twitter by fans and streamers alike for his "apology", burning any sort of connections to the streaming world he still retained.

Now that Wilbur himself has made the connection, clarifying that he was Shubble's abusive ex, content creators feel comfortable unfollowing him on twitter and other platforms and speaking out about their own experiences with him without the fear that they would make things worse for Shubble.

Support for Shubble is stronger than ever, as she deserves.

During a more serious stream, Quackity announces that Wilbur has been kicked from the project. Wilbur is then removed from all official sites.
