The final day arrives. Tommy and Tubbo gather whatever gear that they can find and head off down the Prime Path. Before they leave, however, they're greeted by a lot of members of the server as a sort of final send off. Some have gifts, most have kind words of encouragement. The two stop and take it in as a final goodbye.
Eret apologizes for her wrongdoings in the past. Tommy and Tubbo accept the apology. A few others apologize as well, feeling awful that this may be the last time they see the two alive. Quackity gives Tommy a few potions, a nod to how the two met on the server in the first place.
But all good things must come to an end. The two find a boat, climb in, and set sail to find Dream.
As they're following the compass, Tubbo makes a remark on how they're either going to die or they're going to walk away victorious, and he's looking optimistically. Tommy's not so sure. Tommy jokingly calls Tubbo his sidekick in the matter, but soon corrects himself saying that they're really equals through this whole endeavor.
After a small bit of bloopers and lighthearted jabs, the compass soon leads them to a small island which contains a massive mountain, steep and mysterious. They cautiously continue, knowing that Dream awaits them at the top.
They find Dream waiting for them, and they start attacking before realizing that Dream might not even have the discs on him. In response, Dream pulls out one of Tommy's discs and taunts him with it, playing it in a jukebox and building a protective box of obsidian around it.
While the disc plays in the background, Tommy and Tubbo resume their attack, landing blows and retreating when Dream corners them. All the meanwhile, Dream gloats that he's barely done any work and has so many resources at his disposal. He could do this all day. Tommy and Tubbo, in the meantime, are running low on armor and weapon durability, potions, food, and blocks.
In the heat of the moment, Tommy manages to dig through the obsidian box and snag the disc inside. But when his focus was pulled away, Dream managed to corner Tubbo to the point where one more hit would kill him. Dream holds Tubbo hostage in exchange for the disc Tommy has in his hands.
Art by @avianero on TwitterTubbo insits that Tommy keep the disc, that his life isn't worth it anymore. Tommy is torn but does give the disc back to Dream. Dream laughs and lets Tubbo go, revealing that the discs were fake all along. He wants to take Tommy and Tubbo to see the real ones, but first, they have to surrender.
Dream forces them to dump literally everything on them into a hole and has them blow it up, exactly like what happened to Tommy in exile. Everything that the two had on them, all of the server history, gone just like that. Dream celebrates and laughs in their face. Now that they're powerless, Dream gleefully tells the two how easy it was to trick them and overpower them, just as he's been doing this whole time. He was the one who blew up the community center. He was the one who threw out Tommy's Beach Party invites and sent Ghostbur away in the rain. And he's going to be the one to make the whole server change, simply by reigning in Tommy and Tubbo.
Art by @lewisdoodles on TwitterThey take an elevator down to Dream's Vault hidden within the mountain. At the bottom, the discs are being kept on two shrines made out of gold blocks on either side of a lit nether portal. But as the elevator reaches the bottom, they realize that there is an off-shoot from the large shrine room.
There are picture frames on the wall, more smaller shrines, and animal pens at the end of the hallway. More places for Dream to put important things in. Dream cackles that he has a plan to find other members' keepsakes to dangle over their heads like he has and can with Tommy's discs. With them, he can control everyone on the server, and no one can possibly stop him. They can't do the same thing to him because he cut off all the attachments he had ages ago.
The elevator reaches the bottom. As Tommy and Tubbo explore the empty hallway and look at all the various plaques spelling out exactly what's going where, Dream keeps guard near the nether portal, making sure that they can't escape.
But Dream is getting impatient. He wants to start his plan for global control now. They've entertained him long enough. When Tommy asks if Dream's going to kill him, Dream only laughs. He would never kill Tommy. He's too valuable. So valuable, in fact, that he's going to stay in the vault. Tommy's a gift to the server. He gives meaning to otherwise worthless and useless things. He's what makes the attachments that people have to their silly little things. But Tubbo, on the other hand, Tubbo is worthless and means nothing to Dream. He was only a tool to get Tommy to listen. But, Dream's feeling merciful. He'll let them say a quick goodbye.
The two come to the realization that while neither are leaving the vault, Tubbo is going to be losing his last life. Tommy is finally faced with living in a world where Tubbo is gone for good. Tubbo is ready to die. He's already accepted his fate even before they got to the vault, even before they set sail. Tommy can't picture a world where Tubbo is dead. He's not ready to enter it. He frantically tries making a plan where he'll make a break for it.
Tubbo logically explains that they can't escape, the defeat already prominent in his voice. There is no way to get out. Dream is blocking the only exit and they are severely underprepared. This is the only way to go. This is the only way that Tommy can live, and Tubbo is willing to die if it means that Tommy will survive.
"But what am I without you?" - Tommy
"Yourself. - Tubbo
"Dream described me as a pawn. And this is checkmate." - Tubbo
"Please don't go..." - Tommy
"It's alright. We had some laughs. It was fun while it lasted. All good things must come to an end eventually." - Tubbo
"Even though, this whole time, I've always regarded you as my sidekick, but really, Tubbo... I was yours."
"Goodbye, Tommy."
Tommy is still not willing to part ways. He's literally doing everything in his power to convince Tubbo that they can still walk out of this together, that Tubbo doesn't have to accept defeat that quickly, that he's physically trying to stop Tubbo from walking any closer to Dream. Dream is practically howling with laughter, eager to finally triumph over Tommy and to have complete control over the server. Tubbo walks towards Dream, head down and resigned to his fate.
But something happens, something changes. A small sound from the nether portal.
"I'm sorry, Dream. But you should've paid me more."
Out of the nether portal walks Punz, Sam, Puffy, Sapnap. Everyone from the server is there in full sets of either netherite or diamond armor, all with weapons drawn. Dream is no match for this crowd.
In his shock, Dream completely forgets about Tommy and Tubbo as the crowd advances. Tommy shouts for Tubbo to run, and the two manage to dodge Dream's hands as they run behind the protection of the mob.
After recovering from the shock and the joyous realization that both of them will live, Tommy grabs the real discs from the shrines and finally faces Dream. With the crowd at his back, and grabbing an axe (the Axe of Peace) from Dream's Future Collection of Things, Tommy forces Dream to hand everything on him over, to drop it in a hole, and to stand back and watch it blow up. However, instead of blowing it up, Tommy jumps down and takes everything, leaving Dream with nothing. He hands Dream's armor set, called "Nightmare" to Tubbo for protection, before taking Dream's first life with the Axe of Peace.
Art by @havesomeblue_ on Twitter, u/HaveSomeBlue_ on RedditDream comes back and Tommy takes his second life. But now Dream refuses to come back down just so Tommy could take his third life. He insists two lives is punishment enough. But Tommy's not having it. He tells Dream that if he doesn't come back, he will kill himself and take his final life. Then the server won't be fun anymore. Dream returns, still trying to talk his way out of losing his last life.
Before Tommy takes Dream's third life, he and Tubbo trap Dream in an obsidian box. Tommy's axe is held high, and he's ready to swing when Dream blurts that he has special secret information. Before Schlatt died, he had given Dream a book so powerful, it switched Dream to fighting for Manburg's side. It was a book that told Dream how to bring back the dead, even after they've lost their three lives. If they killed Dream now, they would never get this information, ever. They could never revive Wilbur. If Tubbo died, he would be permanently dead. Same with Tommy. But if Dream lived...
Tommy is immediately skeptical. After all, why should he believe Dream after all that Dream's done to him? But, if this was real, they couldn't pass on such a valuable resource. Tommy is willing to take the risk and fully kill Dream. After all, Dream is better off dead than running around with an all-powerful book.
Sam suggests that they put Dream in the prison. It's an impenetrable prison with no chance of escaping. Whoever Dream originally wanted in the prison is irrelevant now. Dream can just become The Prisoner and live in the maximum security vault. Tommy agrees that this is a suitable punishment for Dream. Dream stays alive while also contained to a horrible space.
Before Sam takes Dream away, Tommy tries to get him to confess to the terrible stuff he did to Tommy like how Dream blew up the community house and what Dream did to him in exile. But Dream doesn't have to talk anymore; he's safe. And the more that Tommy tries to get him to speak, the more frustrated and floundered he becomes. Tommy eventually gives up and allows Sam to take Dream away.
As Dream is escorted up the elevator, Dream will only make eye contact with Ranboo. Neither say a word to each other nor break their line of sight until Dream is pushed out of the vault.
Tommy and Tubbo laugh as Dream is taken away, choosing to quote the deceased Wilbur, "Suck it, green boy!" They make it back to Tommy's bench outside his house, just like old times, with both discs and both their lives. As they sit and listen to a disc, the disembodied voice of Wilbur filters through.
Wilbur, not Ghostbur, tells Tommy how proud he is of him, and that the space he felt growing for him in the afterlife has virtually disappeared. Tommy mentions that they spared Dream because he has the means to bring Wilbur back to life. Wilbur grows indignant at the news and insists that he doesn't want to come back to life. He's much happier dead, and the world is much better without him. The finale ends with Tommy and Wilbur bickering while Tubbo dances to the disc in the background.
